Gazzetta dello Sport European Team of the Week September 19thManchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has found himself in Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week for the second time in a row.

The Belgian international is joined by Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann in being named twice in two weeks.

Raheem Sterling got a mention earlier in the season, and since Pep Guardiola arrived at the club, performances have been such that it’s expected to see at least one City player each week.

De Bruyne opened the scoring against Bournemouth at the weekend, as Manchester City won 4-0 to stay top of the Premier League table. De Bruyne’s all round performance was absolutely excellent, and the perception of the player’s level is growing around Europe.

If Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are at the top, then De Bruyne and Griezmann are among a handful of others in the select level below.

Guardiola’s arrival seems to have filled De Bruyne with confidence, and his brilliant performances will be further adding to that, as will the recognition.
