Earlier this month, we relayed news from Spain that Manchester City are looking at Benfica’s Álex Grimaldo.

Portuguese newspaper Record reported Atlético Madrid are also interested in the 25-year-old, who has a €60m release clause in his contract.

Claims made by Record are relayed by La Razón, and they also take a look at the situation involving Renan Lodi, one of the left-backs currently at Diego Simeone’s disposal.

Lodi, 23, has been restricted to only 11 league starts this season, with his manager preferring Mario Hermoso ahead of Lodi in the left side of the defence.

Despite limited opportunities this season, the Brazilian continues to attract attention from elsewhere.

This includes attention from the Citizens, and the report states the Manchester based club have ‘shown the most interest’ in Lodi due to Pep Guardiola’s request.

The La Liga side would be willing to let the fullback leave the club in the summer and to do that, they will demand a fee that’s ‘high enough’ for them to sign Grimaldo. In other words, Atlético would want to use funds from Lodi’s sale to buy the Spanish defender.

La Razón suggest the Etihad club ‘could make an offer’ for Lodi, but whether that will be enough to convince Los Rojiblancos remains to be seen.
