Believe or not, there is news in the world of football which doesn’t revolve around the doomed European Super League.

Sunday saw Manchester City and five other English clubs announce they’d signed up to the project, only to then pull out of it less than 48 hours later.

There’s a possibility that clubs may use the lack of the planned funds as an excuse not to spend big this summer, and for City that could see them bringing back players from loan and integrating them into Pep Guardiola’s squad.

One of the more obvious options would be Yangel Herrera, who has impressed this season whilst on loan with Granada. There were recent suggestions Manchester City could give the midfielder a shot next season, and he’s made it clear he’s up for such a challenge.

However, Wednesday’s edition of AS states Granada are ‘doing everything possible’ to keep him for a further season.

They’re set for negotiations with the Premier League club and will hope to secure themselves another loan.
