Manchester City are reportedly interested in Ecuadorian midfielder Jordan Sierra.

As Pep Guardiola starts looking for signings for next season, his next target may be far away from the trendy European market.

According to a exclusive story from Estadio, club officials have travelled to South America to watch the player this weekend, as his club Delfín will be facing Independiente del Valle for the local league.

Estadio claims that Manchester City are not the first club to be following Sierra, with Ajax recently showing an interest in him as well. The player attracted the Dutch side’s attention during the U-20 South American Cup last year.

The 19-year-old has already been called up for the Ecuadorian first team, and made his international debut in a friendly against Honduras last month. Sierra mostly plays as a central midfielder, but also can do a job on the left wing. His contract with Delfin reportedly expires at the end of 2018.

Manchester City have upped their scouting in South America in recent years and this interest would be a product of that.
