Manchester City had their scouts in attendance at the Vejle Stadium to watch Denmark U21’s second-leg tie against Croatia U21, in the UEFA U21 Championship play-offs qualifiers on Tuesday.
The first leg in Croatia ended in a 2-1 win for the hosts last week and yesterday’s tie also ended with the same scoreline, this time in favour of Denmark. The outcome of the two-legged tie was decided on penalties and Croatia came out victorious in the end.
TV 2 SPORT report that scouts from 39 clubs watched the clash, including one from Manchester City.
They only provide the full list of the clubs that had their scouts watching the UEFA U21 Championship play-offs tie. Tipsbladet have relayed TV 2 SPORT’s report and then shared their own views.
Tipsbladet suggest the English champions could have looked at FC Midtjylland’s Gustav Isaksen, Ajax forward Mohamed Daramy, Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Maurits Kjærgaard and Brøndby IF keeper Mads Hermansen. Isaksen assisted Morten Frendrup’s second goal of the tie yesterday.
Manchester City have watched Croatia U21’s Stipe Biuk on more than one occasion in the past. Back in 2021, we carried a report from Germanijak, who stated the Premier League winners scouted the winger in action for his club, Hajduk Split.
Biuk came off the bench against Denmark U21, when he replaced Michele Sego in the 56th minute. With City having their scouts in the stadium yesterday, it would have given them another opportunity to take a closer look at the 19-year-old.
