Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester City is rumbling along in the Italian media.
Over the past week there’s been repeat claims of an offer, with it being stated the Premier League club want to pay around €60-70m, whilst Napoli continue to hold out for more.
Fali Ramadani, the defender’s agent, has been trying to find a deal which suits both City and Napoli, having to work with the Serie A club’s notoriously difficult president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Monday’s edition of La Repubblica states Koulibaly remains in Manchester City’s sights, and the club are ready to ‘relaunch’ their efforts and make a new offer.
Pep Guardiola is presented as being behind the interest, and the manager is said to like the Napoli player a lot.
Over at Corriere dello Sport, it’s explained the last offer from the English club came on August 6th and was worth a little over €70m including bonuses.
The suggestion is De Laurentiis is looking for even more, which is quite some ask for a defender who turned 29 years of age in June.
Napoli are hoping to complete a deal for Lille’s Gabriel Magalhães, and beat Arsenal and Everton to his signature, but first they need to know Koulibaly is leaving.
They likely also need the funds, given their spending this year.
Aware of that pressure, City will hope De Laurentiis decides to be more reasonable soon.
