Back in April, claims from Germany reported Manchester City interest in Jamal Musiala.
The Premier League winners weren’t able to take him away from Bayern Munich in the summer window. Fast forward to September and T-Online in Germany are discussing Manchester City’s desire to sign the 21-year-old.
Former Liverpool star Dietmar Hamann was critical of the attacking midfielder’s displays for Germany this month. Hamann insisted he would swap Musiala for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz.
T-Online take a look at whether the Bavarian club should replace their star with Wirtz at the end of this season.
The former Chelsea academy graduate has less than two years left on his deal. Max Eberl, the German giants’ sporting director, has revealed that talks are ongoing for months over Musiala’s renewal.
Bayern are trying to lure Wirtz and would need €100m to secure his services. If this deal goes through, his compatriot could leave the Allianz Arena.
Manchester City are the only club named as being in the picture for Musiala. The report adds they ‘really want him’. If he refuses to sign an extension, the 2025 summer window could be Bayern’s last chance to earn big from his sale.
The website suggests Vincent Kompany’s side should sell Musiala to Manchester City if they were to table a €100m bid. They add Bayern can then invest the same amount on Wirtz.
Guardiola’s side are keen, but it’s not yet clear whether they are willing to spend €100m for the German.
