Schalke star Leroy Sane has been linked to clubs in England in the past few months, mostly to Liverpool and Manchester City.
Liverpool are unlikely to still be in the race to sign him, as they’ve already completed a deal for Sadio Mane.
Manchester City, however, could still be interested in the German star, and reports suggest they’re ready to launch a big money move for the player.
According to German website Der Westen, Manchester City are ready to pay €50m (around £42m) for Sane.
The 20-year-old has a release clause of €37m, but that can only be triggered next summer. That’s not it, Der Westen add that if Schalke sell him next summer they’d have to pay a percentage, which the newspaper think would be 10%, of the transfer fee to the player.
Sane isn’t in a mood to sign a contract extension and scrap the clauses which exist. Schalke had the chance to get a renewal last year, but with other things going on at the club, they never got around to it.
If there is any truth in this, then Schalke might want to get a deal done this summer, or risk losing out.
