Manchester City and RB Leipzig have become ‘significantly closer’ to agreeing a renewed deal for defender Angeliño.
That’s according to Sky Sports Germany, who say that a ‘final agreement’ between the two clubs could be finalised ‘in the next few days’.
Angeliño spent the second half of last season on loan with the Bundesliga side, with Pep Guardiola having deemed him surplus to requirements following his return to the Etihad in the summer.
He went on to become a key player under Julien Nagelsmann, starring in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League alike.
The two clubs have been in negotiations for a while, but Sky Sports say that those are now close to being completed.
According to their information, the plan is for Leipzig to take Angeliño on loan for another season but include a purchase option in the deal.
City, though, want that to be a ‘purchase obligation’ worth around €20m. This is backed up by Kicker, who state that Manchester City wants to install a ‘purchase commitment’ in the loan this time around and cite the same €20m asking price.
Sport Buzzer also have their own information on the deal, stating that the Spaniard ‘will be borrowed’ from City for another year and ‘then bought’. They, though, don’t mention the purchase price.
Either way, all three sources state the same; Manchester City and RB Leipzig are negotiating another loan deal, and Guardiola’s side want them to pay €20m at the end of it.
That’s something they’re seemingly working on, with Sky even claiming that a deal is close and the ‘final agreement’ between the two clubs is ‘expected in the next few days’.
