Manchester City and Issa Diop is a low key rumour which won’t go away. Popping up every now and again, claims of Manchester City interest in Diop seem pretty reliable when taken as a whole, and this could be the year to make a move.
Towards the end of the summer 2016 transfer window, L’Equipe reported several clubs being interested in the Toulouse defender, and it was claimed Manchester City had ‘concretely expressed interest’ in the player.
The French newspaper have a feature on possible Toulouse transfers in their Friday edition and say Manchester City remain interested in Diop, and they are expected to ‘prepare a new assault’ in the coming window.
Diop, 20 years of age, has played over 2000 minutes of Ligue 1 football so far this season. The youngster isn’t keen to rush his future, according to L’Equipe, and Toulouse have him on a contract until June 2020.
Red Bull Leipzig, known for recruiting excellent young talent, have already had a €13m offer knocked back.
