Real Madrid have identified Manchester City’s Rodri, as one of the main candidates to bolster their midfield.
That’s according to AS, who say Toni Kroos’ decision to retire has seen the La Liga side look for a new midfielder in the summer window.
Los Blancos have identified the Manchester City star and Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich as the two candidates to replace Kroos.
The 29-year-old German has just over a year left on his deal at Bayern and will try to sort out his future before the Euros. If there’s no agreement for the renewal, the Bundesliga side will try to sell him in the summer window.
Kimmich has long been on the Madrid club’s radar and his contract situation makes him an interesting option. Bayern would demand €60-70m and Real Madrid aren’t willing to meet their request.
With regards to the Manchester City midfielder, the newspaper says he is a ‘dream’ target for Real Madrid.
AS add the 27-year-old is ‘untouchable’ at the Etihad, mainly because he’s a key player for Pep Guardiola.
Therefore, it will be difficult for Carlo Ancelotti’s side to try to take the Spain international away from Manchester City. In short, Real Madrid’s dream to sign Rodri is likely to remain as a dream, at least in the near future.
