For the past few months, the Catalan media have regularly discussed Barcelona interest in Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva.
On Tuesday, Sport state the 27-year-old is keen to join the La Liga side and his salary would be adjusted without any problem.
Silva wants to leave the Etihad for personal reasons and has already communicated this to Manchester City.
Barca have so far not yet taken any steps to secure his services. They have informed the Portugal international’s agent, Jorge Mendes, that he is their priority target and a deal for him would only be carried out if Frenkie de Jong leaves the club this summer.
The ex-Monaco man’s desire to join Xavi Hernández’s side is so great that he is ‘willing to wait a year’ to arrive at Barca. He would take this step if there is a total commitment from the Spanish giants to sign him in 2023.
Barcelona, for now, are not in a hurry and are waiting to see how De Jong’s situation will evolve this summer.
Manchester United are keen to sign the Dutchman and have informed Barcelona they will wait as long as it takes to sign him. Barca must sort out the issue with his salary for the deal to be viable and this is ‘not an easy case to solve’.
Meanwhile, Manchester City will not wait forever to sanction the Portuguese’s sale as they will need time to sign a replacement.
In the end, it will all come down to money. Guardiola’s side are ready to let the player leave if they receive a convincing offer from Barca. If no deal takes shape this summer, it’s stated Silva will arrive at the Camp Nou next year.
In other words, the midfielder will come to La Liga ‘sooner or later’. Whether it will this year or 2023 will be cleared in over a month’s time.
