Claudio Bravo winning the Carabao Cup with Manchester City at the weekend has seen the goalkeeper back in the Chilean media, with a string of articles on his situation.

Absolute second choice with little chance of getting ahead of Ederson in Pep Guardiola’s affections, Bravo looks destined to a life of little games if he’s to remain where he is.

Being Chile captain, that’s an awkward situation for the player and country, and it would be better for all involved if he played more.

Chilean newspaper La Cuarta have decided to speak to Santiago Canizares about Bravo’s situation. Canizares is a retired goalkeeper, famous for his bleached hair and performances mainly for Valencia.

Being Spanish and having never played in England, it’s curious as to why La Cuarta thought Canizares was the man to question, maybe it’s because he’s called Santiago.

Anyway, the 48 year old explained: “One thing is clear, nobody likes to be on the bench. Especially for us goalkeepers, because unlike field players, it is very unlikely we will be an alternative when another is in the starting position. Claudio Bravo should not be happy with this situation and, surely, he will want to have more continuity. I think Bravo should see if where he is at Manchester City at the end of the season, if it is clear if he will have more opportunities than he has now in the team.”

We can likely answer that question already: He won’t.

Bravo seems happy, there’s been no whines to the Chilean media, and Bravo really likes whining to the Chilean media, so it seems he’s content with a Manchester City back-up role.
