The Argentine media is filled with quotes from Sergio Aguero today, as the Manchester City star was interviewed by TyC Sports last night.
This was one of those long interviews in which the player could speak of every possible topic, so there were several things to be highlighted.
One of them, as always, was Aguero’s future. The player has always claimed he wanted to return to Independiente one day, and that has created a big expectation in Argentina.
But his speech has been changing a little lately, and now he didn’t even want to give the fans a lot of hope.
“I’m not thinking about what to do. With this, all the clubs are having problems. It seems that if it continues like this next year it can be extended for one or two more months. I want to continue making history at City,” said Aguero (via AS).
Aguero has also spoken about the chances of winning the Ballon D’Or. But he claims that Manchester City must win a European competition so he can think of that.
“Every player wants to win the Ballon d’Or, but the Champions League has a lot to do with that. Last year we won four titles with City, and I wasn’t even among the ten nominees. With several of my teammates we had a terrific year, but without the Champions it’s useless.”
Still talking about the competition, he said: “The Champions League is very complicated, a mini distraction and bye. One thing you did wrong and you’re left out.”
Aguero also talked about the pitches he used to play on in Argentina, and said the grass in the Premier League isn’t as good as seen on TV.
“When I got to Independiente and saw the pitches I said ‘this is a mattress’. I got used to the earth or mud since I was little, and when I saw a little grass I was happy.”
“In some Premier fields, mainly those that are not the biggest clubs, sometimes they aren’t as even as they’re seen on TV.”
