The Portuguese media rarely misses the chance of saying that Sporting will try to sign Pedro Porro on a permanent move from Manchester City very soon.
It happens again today, as newspaper Record brings a story on his inclusion to the pre-list for Spain’s U-21 squad.
The outlet adds that given the ‘weight’ the fullback now has in Sporting’s team, the club will analyse in the summer the possibility of buying him.
The deal with Manchester City gives the Lions an option to sign the player permanently until the summer of 2022, at the end of his loan, but they could anticipate that.
Record claims that Porro is ‘pleased with the possibility’ of signing for Sporting permanently, so it seems that convincing the player wouldn’t be a problem.
The deal says the Lions only need to spend €8.5m to make the signing. That’s less than the €12m paid by Manchester City to Girona to sign the player in 2019, and Pep Guardiola’s side never used him.
