Manchester City star Rodri was today put on the spot while speaking to the Spanish media.
The midfielder held a press conference at the national team camp while presenting their new travel clothing brand, and among the questions presented, there was one for him to pick between two players.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Rodri was asked to choose between his Manchester City teammate Erling Haaland and Spain striker Alvaro Morata, who was with him at the time.
The midfielder ended up going for the one who was closer to him.
“Obviously Morata. The truth is that I’m very lucky to play with them. Alvaro has been playing for the national team for many years, he is up there with the greats of our history in terms of goals and there is little to say about Erling because he has everything ahead of him to be one of the best,” said Rodri.
Spain need little to get the qualification for the Euros, and will be playing Cyprus and Georgia in the final rounds of the qualifiers.
Morata has been doing quite well recently, with 12 goals for Atlético Madrid this season, and four goals in the last four matches for Spain, where he’s been the captain.
So Haaland may keep up with great numbers at Manchester City, with 17 goals this season, but he won’t see Rodri turning against another Spaniard during the international break.
