Earlier today we covered claims from Italy of Tottenham Hotspur interest in Gabriel Jesus. The reason for Italian interest in the player’s situation, is that he’s also being linked to Serie A clubs.
Arsenal have been strongly linked with the player, and it would appear his representatives have also been at work in Spain.
Cadena Ser report the Manchester City player has been offered to both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid.
According to the report, Diego Simeone’s side have responded negatively. They’re not interested in signing Jesus on the wages being requested by his camp.
Journalist Antón Meana is quoted as saying: “The footballer’s environment has sounded out Real Madrid and Atletico. He asks for €5m net a year. Atleti has said ‘no’ outright for that price. Real Madrid likes him a lot, he fits into what the club likes, he has an affordable price, his contract ends in 2023 and he is young, but there is a serious problem with the passport. Vinicius occupies a non-community place because his (Spanish) passport is slower than expected.”
Should Vinicius be able to get an EU passport then that would free a place, with Spanish rules in place over the number of non-EU players allowed in a squad.
For now everything is at the initial stage and whilst Real Madrid haven’t rejected the idea outright, it doesn’t seem like they’re racing forward for the signing either.
At one point it looked like a move to Arsenal was a matter of time, but now the net appears to be cast wider for the Manchester City player.
