With rumours saying Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho could leave the club to join Atlético Mineiro in January, Brazilian journalists continue reacting to it.
Today, the response is brought by Jorge Nicola, who on his Youtube channel, comes up to dismiss the story.
He claims to have contacted someone close to Fernandinho, who said there isn’t even a ‘minimal chance’ the move could happen. Neither to Atlético or ‘any other club in the world’ in January.
It’s said the midfielder doesn’t even think about leaving Manchester City before the end of the contract, and there are three reasons for that.
First for his respect for the club, then due to the competitions that Pep Guardiola’s side are in the middle of, and finally because he hasn’t even decided if he’ll continue to play beyond next summer.
Nicola points out that Fernandinho already has an ‘official invitation’ from Pep Guardiola to work as part of his staff following retirement, and that’s something pretty big which he’s set to consider.
The information on his decision to stay is similar to what we brought this week from ESPN Brasil journalist João Castelo Branco, who claimed there’s ‘no chance’ the player could leave Manchester City in January. So that’s probably a rumour we can put to bed for now.
