Last week, Manchester City star Bernardo Silva gave an interview to Benfica TV, in which he talked about his will to play again for his former club someday.

That was nice of him because he only had the chance to enter the pitch for the Eagles io three occasions before being sold to Monaco at the age of 21.

So instead of having hard feelings, he would prefer a return to Lisbon.

But that could not be happening during Luis Filippe Vieira’s watch.

The Benfica president is well known for being tough when negotiating, and could end up blocking Silva’s return due to an old problem, even though Manchester City have nothing to do with it.

Several of Benfica’s emails have been leaked in a proccess which involves their rivals Porto. And newspaper O Jogo published today a few messages which concerns the midfielder’s exit in 2015.

Porto’s communications director is the one who is quoted as saying: “On January 5th, 2015, a Benfica employee, Ana Filipa Godinho, administrative assistant, emailed Paulo Gonçalves with the following: ‘I am receiving requests to register players, but they will not be available until I send the league the documentation regarding the wages infractions, and for now the situation of Bernardo Silva is not resolved. What do we do?’

That’s when Benfica’s legal advisor Paulo Gonçalves questioned Vieira: “President, we have a single situation pending, related to Bernardo Silva, who doesn’t sign the statement that Benfica owes him nothing. Since August his father has been claiming the July salary. We have no choice but to urgently process the salary of July 2014.”

Then Luis Filipe Vieira would have said: “Process the payment, but this one doesn’t wear Benfica’s shirt again.”

Bernardo Silva will surely spend many years at Manchester City, and he better hope that in this time, Luis Filipe Vieira goes somewhere else.

All quite dramatic.
