Leroy Sane got Manchester City off to a good start against West Brom at the weekend, scoring the opening goal after around 10 minutes.

Unsurprisingly, Tony Puils’ men weren’t ready to sit back and take that, with a quick equaliser arriving from Jay Rodriguez. Fernandinho then restored Manchester City’s advantage, before Raheem Sterling gave Pep Guardiola’s men a two goal lead.

Matt Phillips pulled a late one back for West Brom, but there wasn’t enough time for Pulis’ side to go on and get the equaliser.

With a goal and an assist, Sane was crucial for Guardiola’s men and his performance has been recognised by Gazzetta dello Sport, who have the German in their European Team of the Week.

Perhaps just as pleasingly for Manchester City, loan player Pablo Maffeo has also found his way into the selection.

Maffeo helped Girona to a famous 2-1 win over Real Madrid on Sunday, and is widely recognised to have been the best performer on the pitch.

It’s just another step forward for the young Manchester City owned player and is likely to increase admiring eyes in La Liga.
