On August 23rd, Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva put an end to the speculation around his future by signing a new deal at the Etihad until 2026.
Prior to that, Barcelona were repeatedly named as an interested party while Paris Saint-Germain were also said to be another contender to sign him.
Fast forward to October and Le10 Sport have a report explaining the deals PSG advisor Luis Campos failed to get over the line in the last window and it includes the Manchester City star.
It’s claimed the Ligue 1 winners were keen on bringing the 29-year-old to Paris in 2022 and made another attempt in the last window, and failed on both occasions.
The report states the Portugal international had shown desire to arrive at the Parc des Princes but Manchester City’s leaders refused to let him leave.
In the end, the former AS Monaco star ‘accepted his fate’ to continue with Pep Guardiola’s side and sign an extension.
Le10 state Silva’s new deal includes a €58m release clause, and even though that makes it easier for PSG to sign him in 2024, the Manchester City player may no longer be the priority target for them next summer.
