Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been left ‘astonished’ by Ferran Torres’ start to life at the club.
That’s according to MARCA, who say the Spanish winger has left everyone amazed by his start to life at the club.
Torres arrived at the Etihad in a £20m move from Valencia this summer, with City moving quickly to secure a replacement for the departed Leroy Sane.
He was expected to play something of a backup role in his first season at the club, with most players his age requiring time to settle when they make such moves.
Torres has needed no such adaptation period, though, instead making a flying start to his Manchester City career with four goals and two assists in nine games so far.
That’s led MARCA to cover him today, stating that Torres has ‘landed in Manchester like a tornado’ and ‘shaken all the forecasts’ for him at the club.
He’s now the ‘great sensation’ in Pep Guardiola’s squad, with nobody having expected him to make such a ‘powerful’ impression at the club.
They explain that Torres chose to win over his teammates by ‘assuming a secondary role’, confident that he would end up as an ‘essential’ part of the team sooner rather than later.
Even when he hasn’t played his dedication has not wavered, with him instead increasing his workload on his personal training plan and following a military-like regime, putting in extra hours to ensure he can gain muscle and have a ‘much more resistant lower body’.
Similarly, Torres has made ‘care of food’ one of his priorities, taking advice from a nutritionist from Spain and a chef at Manchester City, the latter coming daily to ensure he follows an ‘established diet’. This chef is the same one that Guardiola uses.
That is not the only thing they share, with them also having the same ‘ambitions’. Guardiola ‘hallucinates’ with the player, believing he could become a star sooner rather than later.
The Manchester City boss is said to have been aware of his ability, but not his ‘enormous professionalism and character’ and is now ‘convinced’ that the player can ‘mark an era’ at the club if he carries on in this vein.
Like Guardiola, the rest of the City hierarchy are ‘delighted’ by the player’s start at the club and now believe they have signed ‘one of the players with the most promising future on the international scene’.
All in all, it’s looking like an excellent situation for City, who have not only found a ready-made replacement for Sane but seemingly got themselves the bargain of the future in the process.
