On Thursday, we covered claims from Brazil which stated Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement with Vitor Reis and are working on agreeing a deal with Palmeiras.

Later that day, UOL reported the English champions are rushing to seal a deal for the 18-year-old in the winter market.

Gazeta Esportiva state the Brazilian club’s plan was to not negotiate the defender’s sale until the summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.

Manchester City could change their stance, and the report states Citizens’ officials arrived in Brazil on Thursday to negotiate with Palmeiras for the centre-back.

There’s no mention of the details of their representatives, but this indicates the Premier League winners’ firm desire to secure Reis’ services in the winter market. The two clubs are now discussing a fee between €30-40m for the youngster’s transfer.

A fresh report from UOL states the overall fee could reach €45m with bonuses included, and they provide the latest on Manchester City’s pursuit of Reis.

Pep Guardiola’s side want to count on the Brazilian immediately while his club are looking to retain him until the FIFA Club World Cup.

UOL explain Manchester City and Palmeiras are now negotiating the ‘date of the player’s transfer’ to the Etihad.

In short, Reis will end up at Manchester City and whether it’s in January or in the summer remains to be seen.
