When a footballer is doing well, very well, in a notable European league then there’s a good chance he’ll be linked to Manchester City repeatedly.

Pep Guardiola’s club are considered the strongest in England in recent seasons and they have the money to go after most big deals, even if City’s transfer record isn’t so high compared to some other clubs.

But with Nicolas Pepe, they haven’t really been in the picture much.

The winger put in a great performance for Lille as they beat PSG at the weekend, so the transfer rumours are very much BACK.

Tuesday’s edition of L’Equipe says there’s a ‘British clique’ of clubs interested in the player, and they include Manchester City in that. Manchester United have been more linked, and if interest from both is genuine then the Red Devils won’t be thrilled their neighbours are getting involved.

A potential transfer fee is estimated at around €70m, and Manchester City would be up against the likes of United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, PSG and Juventus
