Corriere del Mezzogiorno, the Naples based newspaper for the Campania region, reports in their Saturday edition that Manchester City are now pushing forward to get a deal for Jorginho over the line.
In recent weeks the player’s agent has been openly speaking about interest from a number of English clubs, and part of that effort may have been to encourage Manchester City to sort things out sooner rather than later.
Saturday’s claims from Naples state the Premier league champions have now made an official offer for Jorginho. The bid is a straight €45m, and the Brazil born Italian international has been offered €4m a year in salary. Footballer’s wages in Italy are quoted after tax, which would explain why that seems a relatively low figure.
The club are quite busy right now, having just appointed Carlo Ancelotti as manager. They did that without sacking Maurizio Sarri, and they’re still waiting for Chelsea to pay the manager’s €8m release clause.
Club legend Marek Hamsik is also looking to leave and take a big money offer from China, and there’s much uncertainty around.
