When the news broke on Wednesday morning that Manchester City wanted to sign West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta, it came as a surprise.
After all, the Hammers don’t need the money after selling Declan Rice, and the Brazilian appeared to be an integral part of David Moyes’ plans.
However, things have progressed quite a lot as the day has gone by, and Foot Mercato are now reporting Manchester City and West Ham are in ‘advanced talks’ regarding a transfer.
They had already claimed earlier on in the day that the player had already given the green light for the move should it materialise, and it could really happen.
The French outlet state the deal ‘really risks going to the end’, meaning it will get done, barring a U-turn from one of the two clubs.
This is seen as a ‘good opportunity’ for the Brazilian, who will now get a chance of fighting for titles, which he wasn’t really able to do with either Lyon or West Ham over the past few years.
Still, a big fee will be needed to get this done, with suggestions that €90m could be enough for the Hammers to give the thumbs up.
