Portuguese side Rio Ave announce today the signing of Ryotaro Meshino from Manchester City.
On their official website, the Liga NOS club communicated the 22-year-old’s transfer on a loan deal which will run until 2022.
Rio Ave also revealed there’s a buying option in the agreement, but didn’t say how much they’d have to pay for a permanent move.
Their report calls Meshino ‘very evolved technically’ and points out that he scored 13 goals in his last season in Japan.
Manchester City spent €1m to sign Ryotaro Meshino from Gamba Osaka last summer.
They immediately sent him out on loan to Hearts, where he was basically a rotation player.
The midfielder had three goals and one assist in 21 appearances in Scotland, then returned to the Premier League side.
Now it seems Pep Guardiola is ready to let him leave for good, as long as Rio Ave trigger the buying option in the next two years.
