The Spanish media are talking Barcelona into a surrender position over the signing of Frenkie de Jong.

Having been ultra confident that the Ajax player only wanted to sign for the Blaugrana, and would therefore reject any other opportunities, those who report on the club have been talking that down.

Saturday’s edition of Catalan newspaper Sport gets ready to wave the white flag, as it’s explained signing the 21 year is ‘becoming impossible’.

Manchester City and PSG are once again named as the reasons.

Sport say PSG are convinced they have a chance of signing De Jong, something the Spanish media aren’t so sure about. They’re willing to pay over €80m and if their efforts fail, then it’s stated that at least the French club would know they’ve upped the price for Barca.

There’s not a great relationship between the two clubs, clearly.

Manchester City are said to have ‘met several times with the player’s agent’, which would show a clear determination from Pep Guardiola’s side.

Whereas once signing De Jong didn’t seem so realistic for City, given the insistence he only wanted Barca, now it looks quite different.
