Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo has admitted it would be a “pleasure” if Real Madrid were interested in him, as it would prove he is doing his job well.
Cancelo is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, having joined the German champions in a surprise move on deadline day of the January transfer window.
Bayern have an option to make that move a permanent one in the summer should they wish, something that could happen following an alleged falling out with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
That is something the player and manager have since denied but all signs point to the 28-year-old’s time at the Etihad being at an end.
Where he ends up remains to be seen, with reports also linking him to Real Madrid before he ended up at the Allianz Arena.
The Manchester City man admits there was nothing concrete on that front, but he would be more than interested if those in charge at the Bernabeu want to change that.
“I didn’t receive an offer,” he told Movistar +, relayed by AS.
“The truth is that no, but if they say so. I don’t know. If a club like Madrid is after me, for me it’s a pleasure because it’s one of the best clubs in the world. I think it’s a sign that I’m doing things right.”
