Manchester City defender Ko Itakura is ‘already on his way’ to Schalke ahead of completing a move to the club.
That’s according to Sport 1 journalist Patrick Berger, who picks up on the transfer after reports that he was close to leaving the Etihad yesterday.
Several outlets in Germany reported yesterday that Itakura was set to travel to Germany today after Manchester City and Schalke agreed on a loan deal with a €4m option to make it permanent.
Berger covers that today and says that Itakura is already on his way to Schalke and will land in Germany this afternoon.
🇯🇵🔵⚪️ @SPORT1 https://t.co/IqgvAM8WpN

The Manchester City man is then scheduled to undergo a medical check tomorrow, with Schalke planning to present the centre back afterwards should everything go to plan during his medical.
He offers no extra details on the potential transfer, so we’ll have to assume that the loan with a €4m option has now been set between the two parties.
