On August 4th, Het Laatste Nieuws explained Manchester City are ‘serious about signing’ Sergio Gómez this summer.

It was also stated the Anderlecht player is ‘charmed’ by the project offered by the Premier League winners.

Manchester City are in the market for a new left-back after selling Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal last month.

The Spaniard has emerged as one of the firm targets. The Citizens’ initial idea was to sign him and send him out on loan to Girona. There seems to be a change in their plans.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who took to Twitter to say Manchester City ‘want to integrate’ the 21-year-old to their first team and are now offering him a four-year deal.

Anderlecht wanted €15m for Gómez, and Tavolieri claims they would ‘get a little more’ for the defender, with Pep Guardiola’s side offering €12.5m plus bonuses and a percentage on a future sale.

The Belgian club have not yet accepted Manchester City’s bid and the report explains that ‘discussions continue’ between the two clubs over a deal for Gómez.
