Manchester City made an offer of €40m for AS Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe earlier this summer, reports French newspaper L’Equipe on Wednesday.
However, the Ligue 1 club rejected the offer for the highly rated young winger. Barcelona also reportedly made enquiries for the 17-year-old, who recently won the UEFA European U19 Championship with the France U19 team.
The AS Monaco youngster scored five goals in the tournament, and played a crucial role in his team’s win.
Mbappe only recently signed a professional contract with AS Monaco, and has another three years left on his contract. The 17-year-old made 14 appearances for AS Monaco last season, and could play a key role this season.
Staying in France does seem to be best option at the moment for the youngster, as he is likely to get more regular playing time than at Barcelona or Manchester City.
One to keep an eye on for the future.
