Fanatik have today claimed Manchester City are showing an interest in Fenerbahçe defender Martin Skrtel.
The 32 year old has been linked with a return to the Premier League in recent weeks, with Swansea City and Newcastle United. Despite these reports Skrtel said he’d be happy to continue playing for Fenerbahçe.
However, Fanatik suggest Manchester City’s interest and the prospect of competing for the Premier League title could change the former Liverpool star’s stance on returning to England.
The Turkish newspaper have reported Manchester City are preparing to test Skrtel by offering him a yearly salary of €4m after tax.
Since his €6m move from Liverpool last summer the Slovakian has quickly become a key player for Fenerbahçe, despite the club’s poor domestic form.
Skrtel is one of the most trusted players in Aykut Kocaman’s squad, but given Fenerbahçe’s financial situation there’s still a possibility they may be forced sell him this summer.
The former Liverpool player doesn’t immediately seem a Pep Guardiola type player.
