Mattias Svanberg arrived at Bologna in 2018 and his development with the Serie A side saw him make his debut for Sweden in 2019.

Since the start of last season, the midfielder has established himself as a regular for the Italian club and his displays for them have drawn attention from Manchester City.

According to Il Giornale, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb, the Citizens ‘like’ the 22-year-old and he is on their agenda for next summer.

In order to closely monitor the Sweden international in action for Bologna, Pep Guardiola’s side sent their emissaries to Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, to watch the player in action against AS Roma on Wednesday.

Svanberg would have ended up impressing the City scouts since he starred against José Mourinho’s side. Bologna sealed a 1-0 win over Roma and it was the Swede’s first half goal that proved to be the difference in the end.

With a contract expiring in 2023, it remains to be seen whether the midfielder can convince the English champions to make an offer to sign him next summer. Svanberg has three goals and an assist in 15 league appearances this season.
