Manchester City have set an €80m asking price on Leroy Sané, more than double what Bayern Munich were planning to offer for him.
Sané is on Bayern’s hit list again this summer after being close to joining the German giants last year.
He was on the verge of a move to the Allianz for much of last summer before an ACL injury picked up in the Community Shield win over Liverpool curtailed the move and put him out for much of the season.
He’s been building his fitness since then, with numerous reports that Bayern were ready to make a move should he return to full fitness.
Earlier reports indicated they were pushing ahead with their plans to try and sign the forward and were even hoping to get themselves a bargain by starting the bidding at €40m after already agreeing on terms with Sané.
That was quickly dismissed by Manchester City, who were seemingly left annoyed by the constant rumours linking the forward with a move.
Their frustration is now evident in their asking price, with Fussball Transfers reporting they have put an €80m fee on Sané’s head.
That is double the €40m Bayern were looking to pay, with the ‘crux of the matter’ now being Manchester City’s asking price.
It seems, unless they lower that price, or the two clubs can do something to repair their continually worsening relationship, this potential move will be stuck on the buffers.
