Italy’s TMW report AS Roma are interested in young Colombian midfielder Andres Amaya.
The 17 year old is currently registered to Atlético Huila, a top tier team in the South American country. Despite his young age, TMW say he made his debut for the senior side in the last season, and has been getting more regular games.
As well as the Serie A club, he’s ‘also attracted the interest of Manchester City’, but TMW don’t add any more about the situation, other than a potential asking price.
Atlético Huila would be looking for $3.5m to part with the youngster. That’s a bargain fee in modern football, but would still be a gamble.
Sport Witness doesn’t have any experts on Colombian football at this stage, so we took a quick look in the country’s sport media to see if there’s a mention of this interest or anything relating to it.
There’s absolutely nothing backing up interest from either of the two clubs, and not a lot about the player generally.
Given the problems Manchester City have had since signing Marlos Moreno, who was a much bigger prospect at the time, directly from Colombian football, this would be an even bigger gamble.
Maybe the Premier League club are being pulled in to hype the situation.
