Over the past few months, Manchester City have been linked with a player in Italy at Atalanta by the name of Giorgio Scalvini.

The young Italian can play at centre-back and in defensive midfield, making him the ideal option for a manager of Pep Guardiola’s ilk, which is why interest from the Etihad makes sense.

This continues to be the case on Tuesday, as Corriere dello Sport suggest that Inter have joined Manchester City and others for the 18-year-old.

They are thinking about repeating a coup like the one they pulled off with Nicolo Barella, but the problem is there will be more competition this time around for Scalvini.

The outlet state ‘a prospect like him does not go unnoticed’, which is often the case in this day and age, and that’s why Juventus and ‘above all, Manchester City’ are ‘also on his trail’.

The result of this is Atalanta’s eye for a deal, and his ‘valuation grows and has well exceeded €20m, sailing towards €30m’.

Basically, it would be a ‘very heavy investment’ for a team like Inter, while it wouldn’t be as much for Manchester City.

Not only that, but Atalanta ‘would also have to be convinced’, as they would ‘prefer to keep their jewel not only until the end of the season, but also the next’.

Therefore, it seems that if Manchester City want Scalvini in the near future, they might have to add a few millions to their bid to convince Gian Piero Gasperini and the rest of the Serie A club.
