On March 25th, we covered claims from Germany which stated Bayern Munich have to be wary of Manchester City in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz.
The Germany international isn’t the only player both Manchester City and Bayern Munich are currently looking at.
Andriy Lunin is of interest to the two clubs and that’s according to Bernabéu Digital, who state the goalkeeper’s future could be far away from Real Madrid.
Last season, Thibaut Courtois’ injury and [on loan from Chelsea] Kepa Arrizabalaga’s mixed performances allowed Lunin to start and impress for Los Blancos. They rewarded the Ukraine international with a new contract [until 2030] in September.
The 26-year-old has again had a back-up role this season and is aware Courtois will be at the club for a while. His situation at Real Madrid has seen Manchester City and Bayern Munich consider offering him an escape route.
Both clubs are looking for a goalkeeper who is comfortable with the ‘ball at his feet and confident in goal’. The report says Lunin fits their requirements, which is why they are showing interest in him.
Manchester City and Bayern Munich have already initiated contact with his entourage. The player hasn’t responded yet because he won’t make the final decision until the end of May.
That will be the time for Lunin to determine where he would like to play next season.
