Gremio forward Everton Soares has impressed for Brazil at the 2019 Copa America, currently ongoing in his homeland.

The forward scored two goals and registered one assist in 117 minutes played across three matches. This came after he scored six goals for his club in 12 appearances in all competitions.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, the 23-year-old’s performances have drawn attention from Manchester City.

It’s claimed the South American was offered to Napoli, but Carlo Ancelotti’s side turned down the opportunity. New Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo also looked at the player for his former club, AC Milan.

However, it is the Premier League champions who have now moved ahead in signing Everton as the domestic treble winners are in ‘pole’ position to complete the transfer.

TMW explains Pep Guardiola’s side have already made an offer of €40m plus €5m in bonuses to Gremio, but the report does not provide any information if the Brazilian club has accepted City’s proposal or not.

Everton has been linked to Manchester City since the dawn of time, and there’s been endless claims of offers and talks… none of it coming to fruition.
