Manchester City are on the lookout for a new left-back this summer.
The Citiznes’ need to strengthen the position will increase further if they allow Oleksandr Zinchenko to make a move away from the Etihad. Arsenal are said to be close to completing a deal for the Ukrainian.
Marc Cucurella has been identified as a target for Manchester City, but they are not willing to meet the €50m fee demanded by Brighton & Hove Albion.
Juventus showed interest in Cucurella and like the English champions, they are also not willing to invest €50m on him.
That’s according to Tutto Juve, who explain Pep Guardiola’s side and the Old Lady are now looking for alternatives in the market.
It’s said both Manchester City and Juve have shifted their focus to VfB Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa.
The Croatian has three years left on his contract and a move away from the German club this summer remains a possibility for Sosa, according to VfB Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat.
Sport1 interviewed Mislintat, and when asked about the status on the potential exits of Sosa and Sasa Kalajdzic, the director said: “Nobody can foresee what exactly happens there. However, we have all the cards in hand to play along sensibly and to say: ‘No, it doesn’t work that way’.
“Even more important is the relationship with the players, which is good in both cases. If nothing suitable comes up, then they’ll be here with 110 percent, I’m sure of that.
“It certainly wouldn’t be bad for the club if a sale of this magnitude came along. Then you should also make sure that you get quality again, although you won’t be able to replace any of the three players (Kalajdzic, Sosa and Orel Mangala) one-for-one.
“There is currently nothing concrete with Sasa, there was a lot of noise about Bayern and Dortmund. He was definitely on the list before the transfers of Sadio Mané and Sébastien Haller were finalised. We’ll see everything else by September 1st.”
Mislintat’s comments be a welcome boost for Manchester City and Juve, if they plan to make a firm approach for Sosa this summer.
