Earlier this summer, there was a big worry over at RB Leipzig that Dani Olmo would have to be sold if he didn’t renew his contract.

In the end, the Spaniard did sign a new deal, and all was well, until now, because Manchester City want to sign him, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Italian journalist has published an article on his website on Wednesday claiming that the Leipzig star is ‘the dream’ at the Etihad club to replace Kevin De Bruyne, who will miss the rest of the calendar year due to the latest injury he picked up in the season opener against Burnley.

It’s said that Pep Guardiola wants to bring his compatriot to Manchester City, and the club are ‘trying to understand the feasibility of the transfer’.

The Bundesliga side, very understandably, have ‘no intention of selling the player’, especially after he showed his class by scoring a hat-trick against Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup not too long ago.

He does have a release clause in his contract of €55m, but that isn’t active until next year, meaning the Leipzig have room to negotiate this summer, and it’s believed they could ask for as much as €80-100m for him.

Those are requests Manchester City are very familiar with considering they faced similar ones from the same club when they were in talks to sign Josko Gvardiol.

Whether they will be happy to meet those a second time remains to be seen, as Di Marzio admits it will be a ‘difficult negotiation’ for them, even though the Premier League champions ‘still want to try’.
