Manchester City are yet to make an offer for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, despite the fact Pep Guardiola ‘particularly likes’ the player.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who cover the player’s future today ahead of Lyon’s big clash with Manchester City this evening.
City have long been linked with the midfielder, with reports over the last year or so saying he was a player on their wanted list.
The reports have ramped up in the last few months, though, particularly as it has become clear that Guardiola and co could be spending big and overhauling the squad this summer.
Reports from France have made it clear that a transfer could be on the cards, with the last report earlier this month claiming that Manchester City weren’t ‘hiding their interest’ in him.
However, there’s been no sign of an official bid as yet, and L’Equipe report that is because City have ‘not yet made an offer to Lyon’s leaders’ for him, despite the fact Guardiola ‘particularly likes’ the 22-year-old.
In fact, the only club to have made an official bid is Arsenal, who saw an offer of cash plus Matteo Guendouzi swiftly rejected.
The interest is clearly there from the Etihad though, and perhaps when they’ve finalised their plans to improve the defence, that interest may become something more serious.
