Currently unhappy at Girona, it seems Manchester City loanee Douglas could be switching clubs in the January transfer window.
As reported by Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte today, the player wants to have more minutes on the pitch.
The story claims Douglas’ staff consider a return to Brazil unlikely, just like an anticipated move to Manchester City. So the player is probably moving to another European side.
Last week, Douglas had already spoken to the same outlet, explaining he’s unsatisfied with the game time at Girona and not sure he suits the club.
“The player can’t be happy on the bench, right? I’m not that happy, but I’m really calm and doing what I’ve always done to start at Girona.”
He also said that he hoped to finally join Pep Guardiola’s side soon: “They supported me a lot, they knew I would come here. They said they wanted to see me next year, next season. It motivates me enough to be able to work here and to be with everyone there next season.”
Douglas has played only 231 minutes in 10 appearances for Girona so far. Signed by Manchester City in a €13m deal from Vasco da Gama, the player wants to show he was worth all that money.
