Manchester City’s Erling Haaland is waiting to see the developments around Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé’s future.

AS state the 23-year-old ‘prefers to wait’ before deciding whether to sign a new deal at Manchester City.

Mbappé’s deal expires in the summer and he’s been repeatedly linked to Real Madrid. He’s not yet made a decision on where he wants to play next season.

Haaland is well aware his chances of joining Los Blancos would reduce significantly if they sign the Frenchman.

The Norway international assumes it’ll be almost impossible for the La Liga side to pay huge wages to both him and the PSG forward.

It’s said the former Borussia Dortmund man is happy at Manchester City, but his future is closely linked to Pep Guardiola’s future at the Etihad. His current deal lasts until 2027 and the Citizens want to extend it further.

AS state the Premier League winners have ‘started contacts’ to renew his contract and that would also include an improved salary. Haaland ‘prefers to wait’ and see what will happen between the Spanish giants and Mbappé.

Haaland is aware it’ll ‘make more sense’ to talk to Manchester City about a renewal if Real Madrid sign the PSG forward.

The frontman’s current deal has a clause that’ll come into effect from the summer.

His agent Rafaela Pimenta would want to leave a clause in place to leave Manchester City, if he signs an extension.

Real Madrid, for their part, haven’t lost sight of Haaland. They have conveyed to his camp their desire to sign him in the future, if the deal suits both parties.

A potential deal in the summer depends on Mbappé.
