Manchester City may be handed their chance to sign Dusan Vlahovic in January, with Fiorentina likely to push for a sale.

That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb journalist Nicolo Ceccarini, who covers the situation around the striker.

He says the case has ‘exploded’ for Fiorentina, who must now make a decision on what to do after the player decided he won’t renew his deal with them.

He’s set to return on Wednesday from international duty but his time at the club is ‘inevitably destined to end’.

Fiorentina have to make the next move, and their aim is to ‘maximise’ the transfer as much as possible and get as much as money as possible.

The fact his contract expires in June 2023 doesn’t help them, but there is plenty of competition for the player’s signature in Italy and abroad.

Manchester City are not named specifically by the journalist, but their interest is well known by this point, and it was recently claimed they’d offered him a contract worth €6m a year.

Fiorentina could choose the ‘hard line’ and keep Vlahovic on the fringes of the team, but that would not be the best choice from a technical point of view.

The first hypothesis on the table is to make an ‘immediate sale’ in January at the ‘highest possible price they can get’, which would suit Manchester City and their need for a striker.

If that is not feasible then the figure would ‘inevitably’ drop because Vlahovic would be in the final year of his deal.

That could suit City to save money, but either way the door is open for them to get a man they’ve now been linked to for months.
