Manchester City youngster Uriel Antuna is set to join Chivas after being convinced to return to his homeland by the club’s wage offer.
Antuna has spent the season on loan in MLS with LA Galaxy, impressing with six goals and six assists in 31 games.
This had sparked interest in his services, with Chivas and LA Galaxy both looking to secure him on a permanent deal.
Chivas were the side pushing hardest, but there were complications as LA Galaxy had agreed to a deal with Manchester City that would see them loan the 22-year-old next season as well.
They now appear to have overcome their complications, though, with Record reporting a deal worth $12m has been agreed between Chivas and Manchester City.
Antuna met with Ricardo Peláez and Amaury Vergara in Los Angeles last week where he was ‘presented’ with their project for the club.
However, they offered to quadruple the wages he earned at Galaxy and that ‘solved his doubts’ about the move. It was earlier reported he wanted to stay in America as he thought that would be better for his career.
The power of money has talked, though, and Record says he will ‘shortly sign his contract’ and make the return to his homeland.
