German magazine SportBild have a feature in their issue this week on Schalke players and transfers, both ins and outs. One potential exit is Sead Kolasinac, and the worry for Schalke is that his contract ends in June.
Kolasinac has been linked with half the Premier League over the past few years, but now he’s potentially a free signing interest may well turn more concrete quickly.
SportBild say Manchester City have been scouting the player for five weeks, making it sound like they’ve very interested indeed.
Pep Guardiola will know a lot about the defender, having managed in the Bundesliga before he moved to Manchester City, so the interest may make some sense. It wouldn’t be a blockbuster signing, Manchester City fans may well feel they could do better, but for free, or a token fee in January, it certainly sounds like a gamble worth taking.
Kolasinac is 23 years of age, he’s a left back but flexible in his position and can play in central defence too. There’s other interest too, so if Manchester City are keen then it may be worth putting the feelers out.
