Barcelona are seriously considering abandoning their pursuit of Manchester City defender Eric Garcia and waiting until January to sign him.
The centre back has been linked with a return to the Camp Nou for several months and has made it clear that he wants it too.
Manchester City are reluctant to let him go but as he has less than a year left on his deal, know that it would be wise to sell him now and make some money rather than lose him on a free next year.
Thus, they have been locked in negotiations with Barcelona for several weeks, with the Spanish giants yet to match their asking price.
Negotiations between the two clubs have been tense, and Marca now report Barça are considering giving up and waiting instead.
They report that the two clubs continue to negotiate over the defender and that Barcelona are ‘willing to raise’ to raise their offer to €8m plus €2m in variables but will not go near the €30m City initially demanded.
Pep Guardiola and co are willing to lower their demands but not as low as Barcelona can afford, so there is a distance between both parties.
Indeed, they now ‘assure’ that it is difficult for a transfer to happen as both would have to make a ‘radical turn’ in their respective demands.
They’ve continued negotiations today but Barcelona ‘seriously value’ just waiting until next summer as the economic conditions would be more favourable for them in January when he will cost less than half of what Manchester City are demanding now.
