Liverpool are the best team in Europe at this moment in time, with Manchester City’s football too ‘monotonous’.
That’s according to Didi Hamann, who has backed the Reds to triumph when the two sides meet in Sunday’s huge title decider.
Manchester City host Liverpool at the Etihad on Sunday in a game that has been billed as one of the biggest in Premier League history.
Pep Guardiola’s side currently sit top of the table on 73 points, but Liverpool are breathing down their necks, having clawed back City’s advantage in the last few months to sit just a point behind them after 30 games.
A win for either side this weekend could be huge, then, particularly with just eight games of the season remaining.
Both will head into the clash full of confidence after wins in the Champions League in midweek, with Liverpool comfortably beating Benfica and Manchester City toiling to a 1-0 win over Atlético Madrid.
Hamann watched both of those games and, based on what he saw, believes it is advantage to the Reds on Sunday.
“Liverpool is the best team in Europe,” he told Sky Sports Germany.
“Liverpool FC celebrated a commanding victory in a 3:1 win in Lisbon. They have the best defence, an incredibly strong offence. Defensive leader Virgil van Dijk wins duels and leads the team. He does exactly that and represents exactly what FC Bayern lacks.
“Right now, Liverpool is the best team in Europe. Manchester City had to be patient against Atletico, they did well and won 1-0, but their on game is very monotonous.
“I think Liverpool are much more variable, and I also see them having the advantage on Sunday in the top match of the Premier League, even though Manchester City are playing at home.”
