On April 9th, Bild reported Dani Olmo favours a move to Manchester City, and it was also stated the Premier League side have ‘very good contacts’ with RB Leipzig.
Later that month, we covered claims from Spain that the Citizens have held a meeting with the 26-year-old’s agent.
A fresh report from Bild mentions Manchester City when discussing Olmo’s future at Leipzig.
The attacking midfielder missed the Bundesliga side’s last home game and is also doubtful for the final fixture of this season. He seems to have made his last appearance for Leipzig as ‘signs point to farewell’ in the summer window.
When discussing interested parties, Manchester City and Barcelona are tagged. The latter won’t be able to activate his €60m release clause and can only pay the fee in instalments.
Olmo is flattered by the La Liga side’s interest but his preference is to move to England, where Pep Guardiola’s side ‘in particular are very interested’.
Bild say he’s close friends with his former Leipzig teammate Joško Gvardiol, who’s now at Manchester City, and the two have already chatted over the Spain international’s possible arrival at the Etihad.
As of now, neither Olmo’s camp or Leipzig have received any concrete signal from Manchester City of their willingness to trigger his clause.
The German club, for their part, are ‘still preparing for a departure’ and are already looking for options to replace the player.
